The Euros in 2012 were held in Poland and Ukraine , the media took this as a bad thing claiming that they were neo-nazis and racist. Although this was not true as there was a small minority , it escalated when a banana was thrown at footballer Mario Ballotelli during a game.
The Independant report that Spanish fans racially abused the footballer.
The media went to so far as saying that you will die if you attend this event or that you might come back in a coffin. Sky Sports did a special on these Neo-nazis and we got to see these "scary" neo-nazis , but it turns out the media had us scared of a couple of drunks who like to fight. The media hindered this event and kind of put people in an awkward predicament. The media always likes to cause a moral panic in people and the media in this case is bringing attention to the event in a bad way and is telling people that we should be grateful we don't live in Poland or the Ukraine.
If we used stuart hall's theory , the preferred reader will watch this event or even attend this event as they love the sport. The negotiated reader will watch as they want to see how their country is getting along in the event. The oppositional reader will not watch or attend the event as they are completely turned by the media saying that neo-nazis will be involved.
This is the video of these scary neo-nazis everyone should be afraid off, when we can clearly see that all they are is people who like to get drunk and fight. This happens everywhere in the world not just one place, yes they are being racist and they saying horrible things but we as a nations and other nations act like this never happens , when we know if you go down the pub you will hear things like this. Sadly all of this is just happened to come about during the Euros 2012. Football games are mostly peaceful but some do take a turn for the worst. The media is only attacking Poland and the Ukraine because that is where the event is held.
The logo suggest that this event will be peaceful , because of the flowers which normally holds the connotation as being peaceful and we know the event will be about football we can tell this as one of the flowers is a football.
The London Riots
The London riots shocked Britain when they just happened , without any real upstart or catalyst to set them off. The media was quick to call these riots as young people wanting a reason to start or to "kick off" , the media instead off giving us (the public) the facts they decide to launch a full-fontal attack on young people by calling them "savages". We now know that what started the riots was a death of a local man , who was shot to death by the police. People did not believe that he deserved to be shot , although the police suspected him of having a gun. People saw this as a racial attack. People started protesting , this then later became what we know as the London riot.
Fox news (Americans) wanted to have there say in the matter. They claim that we as people are ferrel beast that get given everything they want , and the government will do nothing. We know that fox used this as publicity stunt for an author who has a book that was coming out called "Demons" , we can assume that the book"Demons" is based on young people by the way she describes them when talking to Bill O'Reily.
This report is trying to do what the media does best and that is scare people to not going to Britain because these youths will jump you. I personally find this ironic as america always have a mass shooting yet the British media does not try and deter people from going to America. She says that Britain gives too much , this is the exact opposite reason why the riots kicked off , it's because we did not have enough jobs and they were cutting the "dole" , and because young people saw there lives going nowhere. The video up above is America saying that they are more cultured and better than Britain. Stuart Hall's theory , the preferred reader would be scared completely of young people after watching this and wouldn't want to go to Britain as they would "fear" for their life. The negotiated reader would say that some young people are like that and things like riots happen everywhere else in the world not just Britain. The oppositional reader will say fox is completely wrong and is too far right wing.
The media is used to earn money , and i can only assume the reason they did young people and riots was because they were the hot topic at that time and it was an easy way to draw an audience without having too spend too much money. Plus the riots happened in London which also draw viewers as the americans see London as such a cultured place , they would be shocked that this has happened.
Young people in the media are unfairly represented , this sadly affects these people in real life to. As the media has scared people into believing that if a young person is wearing certain clothes or outfit they could be involved if gangs and could be carrying a weapon. These stereotypes have a negative impact on the world and they need to go away.The video below will show how this is affecting young people and how they get stopped because of the recent riots.
The media as a whole uses the youth to earn more money and by demonising them they going to earn a lot more.
